Interaction Design, Video Production
A speculative concept of a wearable device that creates a digital twin, allowing users to instantly “teleport” to work and back, redefining work-life balance in 2040.
In 2040, life moves faster than ever. People juggle work, travel, and personal growth, choosing eco-friendly transportation to reduce their impact on the planet.
Technology has advanced to the point where individuals can create a digital copy of themselves—an intelligent virtual twin generated through devices like the Quantum Mirror.
These digital selves can appear instantly anywhere in the world, allowing people to work, collaborate, and attend meetings without ever leaving their city or home.
We shot one part of the video in a designed studio using a high-quality Blackmagic camera, with a flexible LED display as the background for the work environment. The scenario spans two locations, reinforcing the concept of clocking in and out.
In post-production, we used Premiere for animation and object tracking to create the futuristic overlay displays. We then applied color correction to emphasize the contrast between scenes—warm tones outside of work and cooler, purple tech tones in the work environment. Sound design was kept simple, using copyright-free effects.

We then developed a storyboard and planned the camera direction for the product video. During this phase, we received feedback that physical teleportation was too unrealistic for 2040, which led us to revise the concept. We shifted to a more plausible approach: creating a digital twin that operates in the work environment, allowing the user to switch between their physical body and its virtual twin, improving both feasibility and safety.

After that, we moved into interface design, starting with very rough sketches to explore what essential, work-related information the device should display. Through iteration, this led to a final interface where clocking in and out is the central function, supported by secondary hovering displays showing information like remaining working hours and time until the end of the shift.

We started with the prompt “Work-life balance in 2040,” exploring a future shaped by fast-paced lifestyles and digital presence. From this, we developed the idea of a device that lets users instantly “teleport” to work and back. As a first step, we created a user journey map to outline the user’s day, including actions, thoughts, and emotions, which helped us structure the concept early on.
